Heavy Rain Nonogram (15×15)
This is the Heavy Rain nonogram — a 15×15 picture logic puzzle. Use the number clues beside each row and column to work out which squares are filled, and the picture appears as you go. Every square can be deduced; you never have to guess.

How this board opens
A first sweep of the overlap rule down the rows and across the columns settles 60 of the 225 cells, about 27%, which is enough of a skeleton to work outwards from. The most generous opening is column 1, which gives up 15 cells on its own. 4 of the 30 lines are decided outright by their clues, with no room to slide. Straight line logic carries it to 68 cells and then stalls, so the last 157 need cross-referencing between a row and a column that share a cell. The finished picture fills 55 cells, and the longest unbroken run anywhere in the clues is 7.
About this category
Weather and the seasons, mostly: rain falling, a cloud with sun behind it, wind as curled strokes of moving air, a snowdrop pushing up through the ground, summer rays, the bare tangle of roots, an umbrella, a pair of sunglasses, a thermometer with its three scales, a campsite. It is the shelf with the fewest man-made objects on it, and it behaves differently from the rest of the catalog because of that.
