Beer Nonogram (20×20)

This is the Beer nonogram — a 20×20 picture logic puzzle. Use the number clues beside each row and column to work out which squares are filled, and the picture appears as you go. Every square can be deduced; you never have to guess.

How this board opens

This one opens itself. One sweep of the overlap rule — every row read against its clue lengths, then every column — is worth 302 of the 400 cells, 76% of the board, before you have deduced anything of your own. The most generous opening is row 1, which gives up 20 cells on its own. 7 of the 40 lines are decided outright by their clues, with no room to slide. From there the board finishes on row-and-column logic alone — there is no point where you have to try a cell both ways and see which one breaks. The finished picture fills 233 cells, and one run in the clues is 20 long — near enough the full span of a line that it fixes itself the moment you reach it.

About this category

Food & drink is one of the larger themed shelves on Nonogram Hub, and it skews toward the harder end too: most of it sits at 15×15, there is a real cluster of full 20×20 pieces, and only a handful of smaller warm-ups are mixed in. Cups, fruit, slices of cake, bottles — the subjects are varied enough that no two puzzles here feel like the same picture in a different size, which matters when you're working through this many boards in one theme.
